East Don Trail Environmental Assessment

The City and the TRCA are holding a public meeting this Wednesday February 13th on the East Don Trail Environmental Assessment (http://www.toronto.ca/involved/projects/eastdontrail/index.htm).

This project will connect the West Don trail from Don Mills/DVP/Taylor Creek Park up to the existing East Don trail stub at Eglinton Ave E & Wynford Dr, as well as the Gatineau Hydro Corridor bikeway leading into centralScarborough.  See the project map here: http://www.toronto.ca/cycling/network/eastdontrail.pdf

This is an important cycling link to the Don trail system.  Indeed, the City is recognizing cycling as one of their top project priorities:
  • Create a key connection route linking major trail systems;
  • Provide a safe way for people to access the valley system;
  • Provide a viable transportation route for cyclists; and
  • Create outdoor recreational opportunities for a variety of users.
